Robert Elswit kom ind fra højre og stjal Deakins ellers så sikre pris. Ganske ufortjent, men måske ikke helt uforudsigeligt. Han tog også American Society of Cinematographers prisen. DB

Roger Deakins for "The Assassination of Jesse James" er den umiddelbare favorit, men med to nomineringer er der stor sandsynlighed for at han får sine stemmer splittet. Det kunne gøre, at prisen faldt til Janusz Kaminski for "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly". DB
